Target: Ruhr-Chemie AG synthetic oil plant at Holten Load: 1x 4000lb ‘Cookie’, and 16x 500lb bombs Originally attributed to flak, the Lancaster was shot down at about 0135 on 17 Jun by Fw. Herbert Püchner of 6./NJG1 in his Bf-110. The bomber apparently broke up in the air and crashed at Rhade, some 9 kilometres North of Dorsten, killing five of the crew.
