ELSHAM WOLDS

Entertainment:

Children's Christmas Party held at the WAAF site. Children of service personnel were joined by some 60 children who were invited from Barnetby. Other guests included the Rev. H Thackeray, Vicar of Barnetby and his wife, and Mr Clarke, headmaster of the village school, and his wife. The party commenced at 1500 hrs with games organised by Fg Off Jones, while music was played by the Station Band. An ample tea was provided, and the party ended shortly before 1800 when Father Christmas (Flt Lt Harris) arrived and distributed gifts to the children.

 

CO's Parade:

Commanding Officer's Parade, followed by a full-scale manning practice of all sections and Mobile Squadrons.

Day

Fine or fair with good visibility with a thin layer of snow which lasted all day under a cloud base of 2000 to 3000 ft.

 

Wind moderate north-westerly.

 

Night

Fine apart from some this cirrostratus. Visibility was moderate but local fog formed around 0200 hrs, becoming extensive over low-lying areas by dawn.
