ELSHAM WOLDS

Training: 24 Polish airmen (armourers) were attached from 300 Sqn, RAF Ingham, for further training. Visit: Gp Capt E C Sturgess visited the station from HQ Bomber Command, RAF High Wycombe. Entertainment: ENSA concert "United Nations" held in the station theatre. Catering: 20 pigs from the Station Farm were sold to the Ministry of Food. ??

Day

Fine but with local fog or mist which persisted throughout the day and at dusk the visibility was 1000 ft or less.

Winds light south-south-westerly.

 

Night

Fine with local fog or mist. Between 2000 and 2100 hours, 10/10 stratocumulus with a base of 2000 to 3000 ft spread over the 1 Group bases from the west. The visibility improved to 2000 to 3000 yds, with occasional breaks in the cloud cover to small amounts after midnight.
