TUESDAY, 07 DEC 1943

An Operational stand-down was ordered again today due to the continued bad weather, and the airfield closed completely at 1000 hrs.

Flying Training

None due to continued fog.

Ground training conducted until 1230 hrs and then crews were permitted to leave the camp for the remainder of the day.

ELSHAM WOLDS

Visit: Sqn Ldn George and Flt Lt Rumfitt (Equipment Branch) visited the station from No.209 Maintenance Unit at RAF Broughton. 

No.1 GROUP WEATHER

Day

Cloudy with widespread fog persisting in the western areas of No.1 Group. The visibility improved from 2 to 3 miles on the Wolds in the afternoon, but had deteriorated to 1000 yds or less soon after dark. Cloud base generally 1500 to 2500 ft.

Wind mainly light northerly.

 

Night

Cloud with widespread fog. Intermittent rain commenced at about 2100 hrs in the north, becoming continuous from around midnight until dawn.
