MONDAY, 06 DEC 1943

Operational stand-down was ordered again today due to bad weather. Ground training conducted by section leaders. Four crews were detailed to clean up the area surrounding the Squadron accommodations.

ELSHAM WOLDS ACTIVITIES

Staff visit by Sqn Ldr Sharp (Signals) and Flt Lt Somerton (Radar). All station personnel took part in a morning ground defence exercise.  

No.1 GROUP WEATHER

Day

Widespread fog was experienced inland all day, with local clearances to about 2000 yds mainly on the Wolds during the afternoon. Cloud was variable amounts of stratocumulus from 6-9/10 and considerable patches of low stratus in the Wolds area which cleared temporarily in the afternoon.

Wind very light and variable.

 

Night

Dense fog in low-lying areas with less than 200 yds visibility, and locally less than 50 yds. Visibility over the Wolds dropped below 1000 yds at first, but improved to between 1000 and 2000 yds after midnight. Little or no cloud.

Wind light and variable.
