Ruhr-Chemie AG synthetic oil plant at Holten Load: 1x 4000lb ‘Cookie’, 16x 500lb bombs 8 crews from 576 and 103 engaged in COMBATS. There are conflicting reports as to what caused the loss. Originally it was attributed to flak but later claimed by Fw Herbert Puchner 6/NJG1 - 5km South West of Lembeck (North of Dorsten): 5,300m at 01:38 hrs. (Nachtjagd Combat Archives 1944 Part 3 - Theo Boiten). The aircraft broke up in the air and crashed Rhade 9km NNW from the centre of Dorsten.
